Charlie Emde and James McAnelly joined together in May 2003 to purchase Whitney Buildings. With an extensive background in the telecommunications, engineering and information technology field, both were looking for a significant change from corporate America. They found Whitney Buildings, a small steel building manufacturing firm, which had grown from its inception to a point where it needed a new boost of management and capital infusion.

Over the last several years the Whitney Management Team has developed and implemented various improvements to our design, engineering and manufacturing processes. These particular processes follow and essentially comply with the AISC and MBMA standards for the manufacturing of pre-engineered steel building systems.

As of December of 2009 Whitney has increased its revenue by over 2.5 times and has increased its manufacturing capacity by over 200%. The net result of these efforts has enabled  Whitney Manufacturing to weather two significant economic events that has impacted the steel manufacturing industry. Whitney continues to improve its operation and remains very competitive with a quality product and has become the contractor’s choice for steel buildings in our 4-state service area.
